The war currently has no strategy and is increasingly hard to justify.

It’s fairly obvious after 600+ days that Israel has made a decision to not invade and control the urban areas where Hamas still rules.  Maybe they don’t want to harm the hostages.  Maybe they don’t want soldiers killed in bloody street battles.  Maybe they don’t want to occupy the strip in total and take over care for 2 million people.

The end result is a drip drip drip of dead soldiers, no hostages returned, and an absolutely terrible situation for most Gazans that is hard to justify based on 20 living hostages.  

Either make the decision to end Hamas once and for all and bring an end to the war (likely meaning the hostages die), or cut whatever noxious deal is on the table to free them (likely meaning that Hamas stays in power and 1000 murderers are released).  The status quo isn’t sustainable

I seen a video yesterday from Mehdi Hassan that Hamas had offered to leave power and return the remaining hostages in exchange for a permanent cease fire. 

I question how it would eventually play out, but I don't think it matters because Israel has probably imprinted an entire population with varying degrees of revenge on their mind towards Jewish people, USA, and Israel itself.  There will be long terms plans launched for sure to pull huge terrorists attacks, while a smoke screen of smaller attacks and infiltration feel out the security of their enemies.
